What neighborhood should we move to in/around Indianapolis?

We’re considering moving to Indianapolis, but it’s a big city and I’m not sure what part to move to. Any ideas of good neighborhoods, school systems? It doesn’t have to be exactly an Indianapolis address, we would consider somewhere close like Greenwood or Fishers, but it has to be close enough that we can work downtown. I went to college there, so I know a little about the city, but not enough to make a good decision. Thanks!
Thanks, we’re thinking about Brownsburg. I had some friends in Greenwood and it wasn’t bad either.

Greenwood is a good area and is reasonable in housing as well as Fishers but Fishers in higher in housing and taxes if you are buying a home and neither are far from Indy downtown by the interstate.
There are some nice homes in Indy and around the city but you will have to look around and see what you like.
Taxes are cheaper in Marion County and higher in the surrounding areas. Carmel is high in everything but south port and greenwood areas are not bad.
Get you some local homes books and look around and take your time of you can to see what you like.
Greenwood schools and Carmel and Fishers have good schools and are not the IPS school systems.
Also Brownsburg is just west of Indy as well as Camby, Mooresville, and other areas that you can look at.
Again I suggest you really look at the areas around Indy rather than in Indy and spend some time to see what you like.
was born and raised in Broad Ripple Village in Indianapolis its a fun place to grow up with virtually no crime and its good for a younger couples to have fun thats close to home, its similar to the french quater in new orleans. It’s only 8 miles from downtown and its a friendly neighborhood. It’s also inside of indianapolis so it has more culture rather than the suburban areas like carmel and fishers that have no culture and are neck deep in snobs. The school system is washington township the Middle school is Northview Middle School which is very nice and the High School is North Central High School which the High School with the largest population in the entire state it has very good academics including the International baccalaureate (IB) currrculum which is consider the best public school curriculum in the entire country. Also the neighborhood is right next to I.P.S school 84. (Center for inquiry) which is the only elementary IB school in the state.
